Description

From the Victorian era, this is a wonderful long table or chest runner formed with substantial linen and which has worn to an antique white in colour over its many years of life.

It measures approx 76" x 16.1/2" overall, to include the 4" deep hand crocheted edge worked all around the edge (4.1/2" at top and bottom).  There is a 3" wide central crochet band and narrow bands of ornate drawn threadwork run the full length either side.

This is a very old antique piece and it does have some age wear. There is a break in the central crochet band (see last photograph) and a split in the linen has been neatly darned.  There are also two small spots where the linen has started to wear through.

However, this is still a stunning display runner, a visually striking piece, particularly used on dark wood.  With its long length it could also be used to great effect across the bottom of a double bed.
