Up for your consideration is a very large and imposing Gothic Revival period armchair from the S. Karpen & Bros. Co. of Chicago Illinois. The company started in 1880 and produced furniture up until 1952. This chair was probably made between 1880 to 1905. The measurements are 65 1/2" inches in height 24" deep and the seat at its widest is 27 1/2" inches wide. It is made from sturdy white oak with heavy column like legs and feet. the top of the back has a nice bit of carving that is not overly elaborate. The chair was reupholstered before I acquired it with some type of modern material to mimic leather. It is adorned with round brass decorative upholstery tacks. Condition is good for its age. there is a small crack in the top of the back that is not very noticeable and a few scuff marks but anything this old is bound to have a few battle scars. This is a really cool piece and I hope to find a good home for it. Due to the size of this chair I wouId prefer the buyer pick it up but I will ship this if the buyer is willing to pay the full cost of packing and freight charges. The cost will vary depending on your location and a price will be determined when purchased. I will either refund money if my flat rate is too high or invoice you if it is too low. Due to the chairs height it may prove to be prohibitive. Delivery is also a possibility if you are in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York or New Jersey. Once again the cost will vary by location. Please ask any questions before purchasing to avoid any issue. I describe the pieces I sell to the best of my ability and take detailed photos. I can be contacted at 301 407 5688 with any questions.
Thank you,
Andrew
